Our Story
A Movement Born from Experience
Girl in MedTech was founded on a simple but powerful truth: when women thrive in MedTech, patients everywhere benefit. It is a global community platform spanning 20+ countries across four continents, built for every woman navigating, breaking into, and thriving in this industry. The idea was born from founder Chengetai's own path, from quality and food safety in Zimbabwe to MedTech in Ireland, and from discovering exactly the kind of community she wished had existed along the way.

The Founder's Story
She Walked Into the Room. Then She Changed It.
Chengetai built her career at the highest level of global medical technology, leading supplier quality roles at one of the world's top ten medical device companies, with responsibility spanning operations across Ireland, the UK, the USA, and Europe. She knows what it means to navigate complex global systems, to operate across borders and regulatory environments, and to deliver results in an industry where the stakes are human lives.
But she also knows what it means to be the only woman in the room, to carry the invisible weight of being underrepresented, not just by gender, but by background. And she knows how much harder it becomes when no one around you reflects your experience. So often, brilliant women leave, stay silent, or never enter at all, not because they lack capability, but because they lack community.
Girl in MedTech was her answer to that. A global infrastructure for every woman who deserves to thrive in this industry, beginning with those who have always had to fight hardest to be seen: women of colour, women from communities underrepresented in science and technology, and women navigating systems built before they arrived.
Today, GIM reaches women across 20+ countries and growing. It is a community, a mentorship network, a speaker platform, and a growing movement. This is Chengetai's story. And she is here to help you write yours.

Myra Fabro
Founding Mentor, Girl in MedTech
Myra was drawn to MedTech by the chance to build technology that helps save lives, and by watching a close family member or friend face serious illness and seeing its ripple effect on everyone who loves them.
With 20 years developing therapeutic devices across orthopedic, cardiovascular and structural heart products, she is Cofounder and Managing Partner of Beacon Launch Partners, helping founders take a regulated product from concept to market. She holds degrees in Biomedical Engineering from UC Irvine and Purdue, and an MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.
Lindsey Dinneen
Founding Mentor, Girl in MedTech
Lindsey is Director of Marketing & Engagement at Project MedTech, a fractional leader and business consultant specialising in brand strategy and business development across medtech and other mission-driven industries.
She has built and scaled ventures from the ground up, including a studio and a nonprofit dance company, honing a resourceful, highly creative approach to results often achieved on minimal budgets. Now deeply rooted in MedTech, she is a recognised voice in leadership and marketing through media, podcasts and publications.
Casey Nowicki
Founding Mentor, Girl in MedTech
Casey is an Account Executive at Kablooe Design, working in sales and marketing with medical device innovators. A chemical engineer with an MBA from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, she spent nearly 15 years in engineering before moving into project management, marketing and sales leadership.
She is a MedTech speaker, a guest lecturer for a biomedical class, and a board member of MILI Affiliates. Her connection to MedTech is personal: her son has faced complex medical challenges, and she has seen first-hand how much thoughtful innovation can mean to a family.
Chengetai Nkiwane
Founding Mentor, Girl in MedTech
Chengetai is the Founder of Girl in MedTech, a global community where girls and women in Medical Technology find their people, their power and their place. She is a Staff Supplier Quality Engineer at a leading global MedTech company, and a Quality professional with 13+ years of experience across manufacturing and regulated industries.
A First-Class Honours graduate in Applied Biology and Biochemistry from NUST, Zimbabwe, she began her career in food manufacturing before relocating to Ireland and transitioning into MedTech. Her own career pivot inspired her to build the community and space she wished had existed when she made the leap.
Shawna Cannon
Founding Mentor, Girl in MedTech
Shawna is a medical device leader across startup and emerging MedTech companies at every stage of commercialisation, with a background spanning direct patient care, device sales, clinical training and education, surgical training, product launches and KOL development.
She is passionate about helping emerging MedTech companies prepare for commercialisation by turning complex technologies into practical, scalable training programmes. A John Maxwell Certified Speaker, Trainer and Coach, she is equally passionate about mentoring others and helping people and organisations reach their potential.
Srividya Narayanan
Founding Mentor, Girl in MedTech
Sri is an award-winning Regulatory Affairs professional specialising in AI-enabled medical devices, Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), FDA regulatory strategy and quality system compliance. She has presented and lectured at more than 40 national and international conferences and forums.
She serves as an SDG Commissioner for the Global Leadership Initiative with the International Peace Commission, and her contributions on responsible AI in healthcare have been published through the UN Global AI Dialogue. She holds a Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs from Northeastern University.

This one is close to my heart. The Next Gen MedTech Exchange supports the Seeds of Life Sciences programme, delivering free workshops to schools across Ireland and investing in the next generation of MedTech talent. Being in a room full of people actively investing in the future, not just talking about it, was truly energising.
